Forza Horizon 6: Best Way to Unlock Mitsubishi Montero Evolution

With its legendary rally heritage, it is an absolute weapon for dirt tracks and cross-country events.
However, you can't just buy this truck from the Autoshow right away. It’s tucked away as a Barn Find, and if you just drive out looking for the barn from the start, you’ll find absolutely nothing. The game locks it behind a specific progression wall.
Here is the quickest, no-nonsense way to trigger the rumor, find the barn, and get this iconic 90s off-roader into your hands.
Step 1: Grind to Campaign Level 5 (Navigator)
Before the barn even physically spawns in the game world, you have to make a name for yourself in the festival. Specifically, you need to level up your Discover Japan campaign.
The magic number here is Level 5, which unlocks the Navigator status. When you hit this milestone, you will be awarded the Orange Stamp. The moment that stamp hits your profile, your map will update with the purple Barn Find rumor circle for the Montero.
The fastest way to get there: Don't get too distracted by random free-roaming just yet. Focus your playtime heavily on completing main story missions, cross-country races, and regional side activities. These give you the highest density of campaign progression points to fast-track your campaign tier.
Step 2: Drive to the Mountain Barn Location
Once the rumor circle pops up, you’ll want to head over to the mountainous Shimanoyama region. The barn is hidden deep in the woods, and it can be a bit tricky to spot if you don't know what landmark to look for.
Open your map and look for the main paved road on the eastern side of Shimanoyama. You're looking for a section characterized by severe, tightly wound hairpin turns.
Drive up to the very top of these hairpins, right where the road finally begins to straighten out.
Keep your eyes peeled to the east. You will see a hidden, unmapped dirt trail slicing directly into the dense forest. (If you know where the Bandai Azuma Skyline Drift Zone is, you're in the right neck of the woods).
Turn off the asphalt and follow this dirt track past the tree line down into the woods. It will quickly open up into a clearing, and you'll see the old barn structure sitting there.
Step 3: Claim and Restore Your Truck
Drive right up to the barn doors to trigger the cutscene. Seeing that dusty, classic widebody Mitsubishi roll out is always satisfying, and it will officially add the truck to your Collection Journal.
From here, you have two choices on how to handle the restoration:
The Free Method: Leave the car with your festival mechanic. It takes some real-world gameplay time for them to fix it up, but it costs absolutely zero credits. Just go play some other events, and you'll eventually get a radio call saying it's ready.
The Fast Method: If there’s a dirt or off-road seasonal playlist event happening right now that you want to use the Montero for, you don't have to wait. Navigate over to the Barn Finds menu in your garage and pay an upfront credit fee to instantly skip the restoration timer.
